Over-the-Knee Boots

It’s officially fall here in New York City…yay! I finally have an excuse to break out my over-the-knee boots.  And this past weekend, the weather was perfect.  I (finally) had a free Saturday to go do a little shopping and exploring around the city during the day. I headed to Herald Square for a little retail therapy and to stock up on some of my beauty must haves at Sephora. I decided to keep it simple and wear my favorite sweater dress at the moment along with my thermal leggings and my over-the knee boots that have been in heavy rotation since I bought them last week.  Over-the knee boots can be tricky.  I tend to wear mine with mini and midi length dresses and with and without tights or leggings.  Depending on the shaft circumference, that will determine which jeans you can wear with your boots.  I tend to stick to skinny jeans, jeggings, and leggings in this instance.  In this post, I’m wearing my Stuart Weitzman “Highland” over-the-knee boots.  The shaft on these boots is very narrow so I can only wear leggings or go bare-legged with these beauties.  But that’s okay, I still love them.

I finished off my look with my faux fur coat for a little dash of glam and extra warmth. I made a personal choice not to buy a real fur coat even though I live in NYC because I am an animal lover.  But by all means, wear what you want.  This ASOS coat is amazing because it looks so real!  People stop me and ask where I got the coat all the time and are shocked when I tell them that it’s faux fur.  The key to purchasing a great faux fur coat is to look for one that is well made and the fur shouldn’t feel fake.  Nasty Gal, Topshop, and Urban Outfitters have great faux fur coats in different colors and lengths at reasonable price points (some are even under $100).  I’ve worn this coat dressed up and dressed down (a beanie, sweater, jeans, and sneakers) and it looks great both ways.

After I was finished shopping, I was starving. I walked through Greeley Square to get to my train and stumbled upon the most amazing food stands called Broadway Bites. The booths are only in the square from spring until fall but it’s a great way to try tons of hot spots that you’d probably have to venture outside of Manhattan to try – in Manhattan.  Of course I gravitated towards The Doughnuttery (I do love dessert) who cranks out mini donuts that are made to order and topped with your choice of gourmet toppings. The cinnamon sugar was great but I was blown away by the Cacao Boy topping. They were delicious! They did not make it to photo time as I was too tempted to eat them while hot. Sorry, lovelies. I did say I was hungry. Across the walkway was Brooklyn Wok Shop. They specialize in rice bowls (and they use brown rice) but they also have dumplings and won tons.  It was almost impossible to choose which rice bowl to order but I decided upon the Ginger Lime Shrimp bowl.It did not disappoint.  The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the sweet corn salad was a nice finish to the dish. It was a little pricey at $13 but totally worth it. I’ll definitely be back again soon.

And a special thanks to my impromptu photographer from Zha NYC who was grabbing lunch at Brooklyn Wok Shop for taking my OOTD picture for me. I’ll try your Korean Chicken and Waffles next time!

Have a great day, lovelies!

xoxo, CCB
