It’s my first post of 2019 ayyyy! I know, I know. It’s been a while. But I promise you we’re back on schedule. Since I last posted in mid November a LOT has happened. I parted ways with Saks and got the infamous plague (you know, that nasty cold/flu bug that’s been going around) THREE TIMES – including during NYE and right now as I write this post. But the best thing that happened was that I met my main squeeze, Nick. I like to keep my personal life pretty private though so you won’t see him much if at all on here or on my Instagram. Just know that I couldn’t be happier.
I also don’t talk about my career much but one of you said that’s what my next post should be about. When I decided to part ways with Saks at the end of 2018, I had a decision to make: I could keep doing what I was doing or invest in myself. I was listening to the great Mattie James (if you’re not following her, you should be) on one of her Instagram Live streams and she mentioned that her word of 2019 was “overflow.” That got me thinking. What’s MY word for 2019? What is holding me back from reaching my full potential? I hadn’t been investing in myself. THERE IT IS! I needed to spend money to make money. INVEST. In myself, in my businesses, and in projects. And with my retail job, it wasn’t going to get me there. Yes, the money was good and I made a lot of amazing connections in the luxury retail business but I have larger ambitions. I told myself right then and there that I would do whatever it takes to get where I want to be. And that’s exactly what I’m doing right now. I would go into more detail but some moves should be done in silence.
During my sabbatical, I’ve had a lot of time to practice self-care as well. I’ve been journaling, setting goals, expressing gratitude, meditating, and getting back into shape. I tend to put myself last when I get super busy with work and my businesses but that’s going to change. I’m making myself a priority and investing in my health and well-being this year too.
2019 is off to a great start and I’m excited to see what God has in store for me in the remaining 334 days of the year. Onward and upward, one day at a time!
