Happy Tuesday y’all!
I managed to post one time in October…yay! But in my defense, I’ve been super busy getting settled in at my new job. It’s been crazy but so much fun working at a fashion tech startup. My coworkers are all awesome and I’m loving every minute of my new responsibilities. The best part about this job though is that since it’s a fashion job, I get to dress however I want! It’s the perfect opportunity for me to experiment with looks for the blog during the week and then shoot them on the weekends. Brilliant! For example, I posted a selfie of this exact outfit (overalls and all) on my insta stories on Friday while I was shopping on my lunch break and y’all loved it so much that you overwhelmingly voted for me to post it on the blog this week. Your wish is my command! So let’s get into it!
I had originally shot this look the week before with my red J.Crew coat and my favorite leopard pumps. I liked it but I didn’t love it (much to my sister’s chagrin). It just felt like something was missing. So I went back to the drawing board. I wore the overalls with a plain white tee and these white ankle boots out on Tuesday. I really liked the boots with the overalls. So I decided to try the striped turtleneck with it again on Friday. Much better. Then, the finishing touch arrived Friday night – the hat. Winner winner chicken dinner!
When I’m styling outfits for the blog, it’s almost like I become obsessive about it. It’s like my mind won’t let something rest until I try it. Like I said previously, this outfit sprang up from the red coat originally. As soon as I started thinking about styling it, my mind instantly went to overalls. And it kept popping into my mind until I finally went to Forever 21 and bought some. Are you happy now, brain?!
For the striped turtleneck, it’s actually borrowed. I liked the idea of doing black with white stripes to add contrast. So, a huge shout out to Mama CCB for always coming through whenever I need a striped tee/turtleneck for an outfit. She swears by Target for anything striped. And you heard it here first: Target for all of your striped shirt needs.
I knew that the outfit was lit on its own but the hat just took it to another level. And this hat was the accessory I never knew I needed until I bought it. I love it so much already that I’m already planning to buy another one in brown. When you like something, you buy it in every color, right? And since I exercised a great amount of patience (I almost splurged on a Janessa Leone hat), this one only set me back $72 #winning
These white booties were a fab find by my personal stylist on Tailor (the app I work for). I have a fake account so that I can check their quality of work (hehe) so I asked them to find white booties for me. I instantly fell in love with them and bought them. I’ve been wearing them nonstop ever since. My team is the bestest!
Accessorizing the Overalls
I decided to stick to my everyday jewelry for the most part with this look. My Gucci Dionysus was the perfect bag for this hipster look so she came along for the ride. And because a little glam never hurt any outfit, I added my Chanel brooch and an art deco-inspired ring to complete the look.
I’d like to end this blog post with another huge THANK YOU to all of you for your constant support of CCB Diaries. I reached 10K followers on Instagram and I wanted to cry. But I was on the ferry on the way to work when I found out so I held in my tears like a “G” haha. All of the early mornings, late nights, highs, lows, and everything in between were all worth it. I’m humbled that y’all like my style and my writing so much and you stick around week in and week out to see what I’ve been up to. From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate every single one of you. And I love you all!
The best is yet to come…just wait on it!
