Winter Finale

It’s Monday. Again. Oh, and it’s cold and snowing in NYC too. Ugh. I thought I could put away my faux fur coat and OTK boots until late fall since the weather had been so gorgeous over the past week but not yet. I figured I’d turn these lemons into lemonade by doing one more winter outfit post.

This was my first winter in NYC and by its standards it was a pretty mild one. But being a California girl I still wasn’t used to the harsh weather conditions even when it wasn’t snowing. I purchased this faux fur coat back in late October when it first started to get crisp. I’m so glad I bought it! It has kept me toasty all winter long. I wore it in my All Black Everything post when I ventured out for fresh air and salad the day after Winter Storm Jonas dumped 28 inches of snow on NYC in 24 hours and it passed the toasty test with flying colors in 20 degree weather.

I am wearing a v-neck top in this post. I know, it’s cold and I was just complaining about how cold it is. But like I said, this coat is extremely warm so I could get away with it. If it was really windy or below freezing, I’d wear a turtleneck instead. Extreme cold burns your skin, people. It’s real. But anyways, back to THIS shirt. If you recall, I raved about the “One Eleven” tops from Express last week. This is another one of their tops. It’s the long sleeve and double v-neck version. Just like its 3/4 sleeve sibling, it’s a perfect basic top. This one will set you back $25 a pop but it’s well worth it – to me anyway. If you’d like for me to find less expensive but just as great options, let me know in the comments and I’ll be happy to look into it.

I could have gone with black or even blue jeans here but I decided to shake things up and rock my grey jeans.  Grey is the new black, people.  If you ever get tired of always wearing black jeans, grey jeans are a great alternative.  And monochromatic grey looks are oh so chic in my opinion.  I haven’t done a monochromatic grey look yet but only because I cannot find a pair of grey suede pointed-toe pumps that I like.  The search continues.

Speaking of shoes, these boots are everything.  I bought them in Fall 2014 after looking for the perfect pair of suede OTK boots for months.  To be honest, when they first arrived, I wasn’t completely in love with them.  I felt like I had settled.  I prefer pointed-toe shoes and these are almond toe.  I know that seems really nitpicky but I like what I like – especially when it comes to shoes.  The first time I wore them it was with a shirt dress for a shopping date with my mommy.  She even approved of them – shocker – so I knew I made the right choice.  In the end, I’m so very glad that I did decide to keep them because they’re definitely my go-to pair when I have some serious walking to do.

I kept my accessories minimal since I wanted the coat to be my statement piece.  I did however want to play up the edgy vibe courtesy of my hair with my mirrored sunnies (my latest obsession) and a bold red lip.  What do you guys think of my edgier ‘do?

Have a great start to your week, lovelies!

xoxo, CCB
