Camo Obsession
Camo Obsession
It’s Monday again. Yay. But I’m in a better mood than usual because I had a fantastic weekend in which I went to an awesome networking event in Williamsburg where I met some cool boss babes and I also got to catch up on sleep. I feel well rested and ready to take on my work week so bring it! If you’ve been reading my blog regularly, you know how much I love leopard print. It is by far my favorite print (sorry, stripes). But in this post, I want to talk about another print that I am obsessed with: camo.
Camo print has come back in a big way over the past few seasons. These pants in particular were a great find in Forever 21 a couple of weeks back. It was one of those days where I was just browsing to kill time and I stumbled upon these pants. At first glance, I just thought that they were a pair of camo print jeans. I was interested. But then I saw the ankle zippers and the moto-inspired stitching on the knees and I was hooked. There were only 3 pairs left and only one was in my size. SOLD! I knew immediately how I was going to style them when I decided to wear them a few days later to dinner: black top and leopard pumps. I also wore these pants to work but I swapped out this tee for a different black top and added my favorite black blazer to make it more office appropriate.
In this instance, I wore a black top. Grey, white, and chambray tops look great with camo print as well. I bought this black open back t-shirt last summer completely on accident. I was in Forever 21 (it seems like I’m always in there, gosh) to get some short sleeve t-shirts right before I moved to NYC and I grabbed this shirt and one in white thinking that they were just basic tees. When I got home to show my mom my shopping haul, I realized that the backs were open. At first, I was going to exchange them but my mom and I agreed that they were cute and fun tops so I decided to keep them. I typically wear them with any of my jeans whenever I want to wear a plain tee but feel a little sassy. Except to the office. That’s a no-no in my book.
Accessorizing the Camo
I didn’t want to do anything too fancy accessory-wise since I had a lot going on with the camo print pants and leopard shoes. But this is just me. I’m a firm believer in the “less is more” look. I opted for my oversized python embossed clutch, a stackable ring, and my everyday jewelry here (necklace, watch, and bracelet). If you wanted to, you could do some really cool midi rings or a statement ring or a statement necklace to add some pizazz to your look. And in the cooler months or if you’ll be out later into the evening, a black moto jacket or a black blazer would be very chic cover-ups for this look if it gets a little chilly. I always have a jacket with me because I’m always cold by nature and it seems like they always blast the air conditioning in restaurants and bars.
I mean, just look at how well these shoes and these pants go together. It’s a match made in fashion heaven. You’ve got the cool ankle zippers on the camo pants and then the gold heel on the shoes – perfection. But if this is too bold for you, a nice black pump or black loafers would be fantastic with this look as well. Or for a more casual feel, a great pair of black sandals (not flip flops) or espadrilles would look super chic too. But please consider leopard. It’s so much fun.
As much as I love my spiky ‘do from my Winter Finale post, I’ve really been loving my pincurls and finger waves hairstyle lately. There’s something about it that makes me feel like I’m back in old Hollywood. I finished my look with my favorite red lipstick and my favorite Celine sunnies. On another note, I almost lost these sunnies this past week during my morning work commute and a person was kind enough to turn them in so that I was able to get them back on my way home from work. Thank you, Good Samaritan. Your kindness did not go unnoticed.
Have a great day lovelies!
