Casual Friday

It’s (finally) Friday!! The work week is coming to a close and I’m one week closer to my much needed Miami getaway with my #squad. I don’t talk about my 9-5 work life much on the blog (I do data analytics at a consulting firm) but a lot of the outfits I do post are looks that I’ve worn to the office on casual Fridays with a few minor adjustments.

I’m always a little chilly so even in 70 degree weather I still wear a light jacket or sweater. At my office, I sit right by a window but directly next to a vent so I almost always wear a blazer on casual Fridays. I pretty much have a blazer in every neutral color and a few bright colored ones for fun. I dress them up with nice trousers and pumps or dress them down with ripped skinnies and pointed-toe flats. This blazer in particular gets the most wear out of all of my blazers because it’s so versatile. It’s warm enough to stand alone with a tshirt when it’s too warm for a heavier coat but also light enough to layer with without feeling bulky – like I did in my Navy: The Other Neutral post. And don’t you just love the leopard lining? There’s no such thing as too much leopard in my opinion!

I decided to wear a black and white striped tee this week. I could have opted for a solid tee but I jump on any opportunity I can to mix prints. Stripes and leopard go so well together. I even managed to pull off double leopard by wearing my favorite pumps. The reason why it still works is because I “broke it up” by having one leopard be my shoes and the other on my jacket. It’s all about balance.

You can never have too many pairs of black skinny jeans in my opinion. I wear them to the office a lot on days when I don’t feel like wearing slacks (shhh, don’t tell my boss) or on weekends when I don’t want to wear blue jeans. When looking for skinny jeans, fit is most important. You can always alter hemlines but you can’t change how they fit so be selective. This particular pair is from Forever 21 but I have several black pairs from other brands such as DSTLD, Citizens of Humanity, and Rich and Skinny – just to name a few.

Words cannot express how much I love these shoes so I’m just going to leave the picture here and let them speak for themselves. Mic drop.

If you follow me on Instagram you’ve noticed the new sunglasses I’ve been rocking lately. I finally took the plunge and bought some mirrored sunnies and I’m in love! They’re a little bit different from what I normally would choose for eye wear but I can’t resist a bold accessory. And sunglasses are such a fun way to express your mood. I think these ones say “pay attention to me but I actually don’t want to be bothered.” But if you ever do see me out and about, come up and say hi. You’re not bothering me at all 🙂

Have a great weekend, y’all!

Loving your casual Friday look! And I especially love the leopard print detail inside your blazer, very chic! And I agree, you can never have to many pairs of black denim! Cool sunnies. I really like the mirrored sunglasses look but I’m too chicken to try them on myself. lol
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
