Grey Graphic Tee Ripped Jeans Day To Night

Grey Is The New Black

In today’s post I wanted to incorporate three fall trends: pointy toe flats, transitional pieces, and grey. And speaking of transitional pieces, I’m going to show you how you can change a sleek daytime office ensemble into a chic happy hour look with relative ease.

Grey Day

In this look, I paired one of my favorite black blazers that happens to have leopard lining with a graphic muscle tee. Even though it’s August, the air conditioning in the office makes me chilly and I can’t be sleeveless in the office either.  Muscle tees aren’t just for the gym though. When layered with a blazer or a moto jacket, they can be utilized like any other graphic tee in your wardrobe. Sometimes I even wear a long sleeve tee underneath for a little extra warmth in the winter months.

Since the shirt appropriately says “grey is the new black” I decided to wear my favorite grey moto jeans.  They’re high waisted but really flattering and the inseam is perfect – hits right at the ankle! Side note: grey jeans are a great alternative to black jeans if you ever wanted to break up the monotony of wearing black all the time.  Also, a monochromatic grey look can be oh so chic.

To finish off the look, I reached for my patent leather pointy toe flats and my carryall work tote. Not only are these flats on trend for fall, but they’re a steal at $23 at Forever 21 (they come in more colors too)!  Pointy toe flats are a must have.  I am in no way saying that they are superior to ballet flats but they tend to add a level of sophistication to any look.  In addition, I have very small feet (size 6) so they elongate my feet and make me look taller.  I kept my makeup relatively simple with neutral eyeshadow, winged liner, and some clear lip gloss (see featured photo for a closer look). Is it 5pm yet??

Grey Night

I survived my work day and now it’s time to head out to happy hour to play! I got rid of the blazer, threw on a few statement accessories, traded in my flats for strappy stilettos, and swapped out my tote for a clutch.  I amped up my makeup by adding some dark plum lipstick (“Bruised Plum” by Tom Ford and “Vampira” by Kat Von D are favorites of mine) and added some black eyeshadow for a smokey eye. Instead of a bralette, I opted for a crop tank under my muscle tee. It’s strictly about what makes you feel comfortable and confident in this situation. If you’re out a little later than you anticipated (this always happens to me), you can throw the blazer back on or reach for a moto jacket (I’m currently coveting this one). Work hard, play hard. And if you see me out, come up and say hi – I may even buy you a drink!

xoxo, CCB
