Leather Love
Leather Love
Happy Monday, lovelies! I’m freshly back from my mini vacation in Miami with my #squad and I’m ready to get back into the groove. Not really but I had to come back eventually – for Dexter, at least. And lucky for me I took extra blog photos the last time Kristin and I got together so that I’d still be able to post this week because the jet lag was real yesterday *pats self on the back*. Since the weather was finally warm enough in NYC for me to wear this leather jacket last week, I had to put together a look to do a blog post on it. But, this isn’t actually the first time I’ve shot this exact same look. When I first started CCB Diaries in May of last year, I shot this outfit but I never did a blog post about it. I don’t know why but I just didn’t. I posted a walking shot of the back of this look on my Instagram as a Flashback Friday post a few weeks back and got such positive feedback (especially about the leather jacket) that I knew I had to eventually do a full post on this outfit. So, let’s get to it!
Okay, this cropped leather jacket is everything. I’ve had it for about a year now and I absolutely love it. I love the zipper and belt details on it too (again, details make an outfit). I didn’t get much wear out of it in California since it was so abnormally warm last winter and spring but I’ve definitely put it to work in NYC. I wear it with everything from jeans and a t-shirt to shirt dresses (midi or maxi) and slip-on sneakers. This jacket did run small so I actually had to get a size Large but it fits perfectly. I can even zip it if I have to but I usually don’t. And I chose to wear a basic white tee underneath to not take away from the jacket. A plain grey tee or a black tee would look good here as well. The “messy tuck” just adds to the laid back vibe of this look in my opinion.
Yup, I’m wearing my DSTLD ripped black skinnies again. They’re just so perfect for edgier looks like this one. If I weren’t wearing black boots I’d wear ripped blue jeans here (oooh, or maybe even ripped white jeans with the gray tee) just to play around with different looks. And like I said, it’s a repeat outfit so I had to wear the exact same pieces this time around. You’ll be seeing a lot more of this jacket in different outfits in the spring and fall months, trust me.
…and a little hint of Louboutin red as you walk away never hurt an outfit. You may remember these beauties from my Layers and Loubs blog post. They’re so comfy – even while walking around Bushwick all day.
May your coffee be strong, your eyeliner be even, and your Monday be short. At least, I hope mine is anyway. I’m not looking forward to the office craziness after being out for two days last week. I’ll just work through lunch I guess. Food is overrated.
Have a great day!
xoxo, CCB
