Romper Rendezvous
Romper Rendezvous
Happy Monday y’all!
I don’t know about you but this weekend was a really low key one for me. The weather wasn’t great here this weekend. We had thunderstorms pretty much all day Saturday and it looked like it was going to rain all day Sunday too (but it didn’t). Regardless, I wasn’t really in the mood to go anywhere only to be caught in the rain so I stayed home with Dexter (which he absolutely loved, by the way). Luckily, I shot this look the weekend before so that I had content for you all this week…yay!
This romper is another oldie but goodie that I’ve had in my closet for about two years now. I got into a romper phase back in summer of 2014 and I bought as many as I could get my hands on. The great thing about rompers is that pretty much everyone sells them. Most of the rompers I’ve purchased have been from Forever 21. They always have a ton of them in different colors and patterns and they’re usually less than $20. If you’re willing to spend a little bit more, Bebe has great rompers too and they usually have promotions quite often to get full-priced items on sale. I’m not the biggest fan of short skirts either so I tend to wear a lot of denim and dressy shorts and rompers during the summer months. I personally love rompers because you can dress them up or down – which makes them great for vacations. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me wear a cute black romper back in March when I was in Miami with my #squad to go out on the town. I wear either flat sandals (a strappy pair of gladiators or lace-ups would be fun with this too) or wedges with my rompers during the day and then swap them out for a pair of sexy stilettos for nighttime fun.
And making their blog debut (where they’re actually visible) are my Chloe wedges. If you follow a lot of fashion bloggers like I do, you’ve probably seen these wedges in brown everywhere the past few months. As cute as they are, I didn’t buy them because I wear more black than anything and so I didn’t think I’d get much wear out of a brown pair. The struggle was indeed real not to give in and buy them but I resisted. Then about a month ago, one of my style crushes posted an outfit of her wearing a black pair on Instagram. Whaaaat?! I immediately went to the site to order a pair for myself and I managed to snag the last pair in my size. And the cherry on top? They were on sale. If that isn’t divine intervention, I don’t know what is! I’ve been wearing them nonstop since I got them so they’ve more than paid for themselves already. I wear them with everything – t-shirt dresses, with my flare jeans, with a tee and shorts, and maxi dresses. They’re extremely comfortable so if you can get your hands on a pair, I highly recommend you do so. Also, there are some less expensive dupes out there if the Chloe pair is too big of a splurge for less than $150.
Romper Accessories
I tend to not wear my rompers “as is”. I add a thick belt or a high-waisted belt to define my waist a bit more and to make it my own. And, if you’re short like me, defining your waist elongates your legs and makes you look taller too! This Fina Firenze belt is a belt I bought about 5 years ago when high-waisted belts were really on trend. I wear my belts with rompers, jumpsuits, and maxi dresses for the most part and they can really make your outfit pop. Another great way to utilize thick belts is to turn your maxi dresses into “separates”. You can put a button up blouse over your maxi dress, tie it at the bottom, and tuck the blouse into the belt to give the illusion of wearing a top and a maxi skirt. It’s a great way to get more wear out of the maxi dresses you love and to wear them in the spring and fall when it’s not quite warm enough to go sleeveless.
I’ve really been into layering my jewelry lately. Multiple necklaces, bracelets, rings – you name it. I wear my “love” necklace and my silver heart necklace every day for the most part. These bracelets are “worry beads” that I bought about 3 years ago. The principle behind worry beads is that they remind you not to sweat the small stuff. I used to sandwich my Alex and Ani bracelets in between them too for the ultimate armparty. I love rings too. I either wear one statement ring on my middle finger or multiple bands that I can layer and wear on multiple fingers. I just think it’s really fun to play around with your jewelry when your outfit is very simple. It’s another way to express yourself – and that’s what personal style is all about!
May your coffee be strong, your winged eyeliner be even, and your Monday be short!

Love the entire outfit especially those Chloe wedges. Adding a high-waisted belt made you look sexier plus those killer legs! I’m so intrigued with your bracelets and their “worry-beads”–nice that it helps remind not to worry about the small stuff. Great post boo! xx
