Summer Wardrobe Edit: Overalls
Summer Wardrobe Edit: Overalls
We’re already halfway through 2019…wow! Although the weather is still moody AF around here, we’ve been getting glimpses of summer weather every now and then. And one of my favorite pieces to break out in the summer months is overalls. Most of us wore overalls as kids…I know I sure did! Well, they’re back in a big way for spring and summer. And no matter if you love to wear them as shorts or as jeans, there’s a pair of overalls for everyone!
I bought my first pair of overalls as an adult back in 2016. I had just purchased my Chanel slingbacks and was thinking about how to style them for their first day out. For some strange reason, my mind kept going towards overalls. Brain, seriously?! But my mind wouldn’t let it rest so I found myself in Forever 21 trying on a pair. And as they say, the rest is history!
This pair of overalls is truly special. I was scrolling on Instagram and one of my favorite accounts for style inspiration is Yara Shahidi. Her stylist, Jason Bolden, keeps her looking age appropriate yet on trend. A few months ago, she was wearing a pair of flare overalls similar to these. And luckily for me, she tagged the brand (shoutout to peeps who tell you where they got stuff). The overalls weren’t available to purchase yet and they were also a wee bit outside of my budget. So I started looking for a more budget-friendly alternative on Le Google. I found this pair on ASOS of all places! I love the cropped length and the bootcut leg. The suspenders also make them more flexible as far as how I style them compared to traditional overalls.
I knew that these overalls would look best with a crop top since they’re high waisted buuut my true crop top days of showing midriff any chance I get are LONGGGG gone. Although this WAYF beauty is indeed a crop top, the length was perfect with my overalls in the sense that I got the look I wanted without my tummy showing. Win win! I bought this top about a year ago to wear to a friends birthday party. I love the chevron print, gold thread for just a hint of shimmer and glam, and the bell sleeves. The best part? This top only set me back about $50!
To complete the look, I decided to break out my Gianvito Rossi sandals. Alternatively, I thought about wearing my gold Fendi boots or my cream Louis Vuitton boots. And to tie in the gold I decided to carry my Lady Dior bag. Isn’t she a beauty?
I hope I inspired you to give overalls a try this summer. And be sure to tag me in your photos on Instagram if you do so I can see!
