Women In Tights
Happy Monday Cocoa Butter Crewe!
Was it just me or did the week drag on for what felt like forever and then the weekend flew by? I mean, I still got a lot done and had a good time this weekend (my IG followers know this) but I can’t believe it’s Monday again already. AND I just looked at my calendar and it’s mid-September…WHAAT?! Regardless of what the weather is outside, fall is still heavily on my mind when it comes to fashion. All I want to do is style outfits with my fluffiest sweaters and all of my fabulous boots. But since I’m not a glutton for punishment, I’ve just been sprinkling in tiny bits of fall into my transitional looks. One of the ways I’ve been able to do so is with the addition of socks and tights.
When I was a little girl, I LOVED wearing tights. I used to beg Mama CCB to get me the frilliest and most girly tights to wear to school and to church. And since it’s always relatively mild weather here in the Bay Area, she didn’t mind indulging my desire to buy them all because I could wear them all the time. But as I got older, tights were seen as being kind of a thing that only older women wore. So I stopped wearing them altogether. Even when I would attend more conservative functions, I’d rather wear a longer dress than wear tights.
Over the past few years, tights have become fun again. With all of the cute patterns and fun colors, tights have had sort of a re-emergence in fashion. I mean, even those thigh high sock boots that I am a fan of kinda give the illusion of wearing tights. But tights officially became high fashion again when Gucci and Fendi rolled out their logo pairs. Let me tell you those babies sold out with the quickness. When I was working at Saks last year, we couldn’t stock them fast enough! And as much as I liked them, I didn’t think they were practical for me since I’m not really a dress/skirt gal. So I opted to get the sock tights instead. Those were great! I could add a fun pop to my business casual looks with slacks…kinda like how men wear statement socks with their suits. But then I saw how some of my fashion faves were wearing tights with super distressed jeans and I loved it! I decided to buy these Gucci tights and I don’t regret it at all. I mean, look how fun they are with this look?
I’m curious to know what y’all think about the designer socks and tights trend. Are you feeling it or nah?
