Spring: NYC Style
Spring Style
Happy Monday lovelies! I had another fantastic weekend so I’m ready to kick butt this week. If you follow me on Instagram you saw that I spent most of the weekend apartment hunting and going to business meetings but I managed to find time for a little shopping and brunching action too. Also, the weather was gorgeous all week and on Saturday so it seemed like spring was finally here. It’s no secret that New Yorkers love wearing black. And I love me some black too. I decided that I would celebrate the arrival of spring NYC style – with a black miniskirt and OTK boots.
This jacket is making its second appearance on the blog. The first time was in my Layers and Loubs post. I wear this jacket A LOT. It was a gift from my mommy a couple of Christmases ago after my other faux leather jacket finally kicked the bucket. Thanks, mom, for having great taste. When I started putting this look together, I instantly knew that I wanted this jacket to be a part of it. It’s the perfect piece to complete the look. But besides wearing it with jeans and a t-shirt, I wear it with knit dresses and LBDs in the spring and fall when I want to add a little edginess to my look.
This Markus Lupfer-inspired shirt from H&M is very special to me. One of my insta friends, Rena, sent this to me as a gift one day out of the blue last summer. I had been going back and forth about buying a shirt like this for weeks and then she bought me one and mailed it to me! I wear this tee with black coated jeans usually since I don’t wear it often with fear that the sequins will fall off during the wash. I thought it would be really fun to mix it up for spring and pair it with this skirt for the blog. The funny thing is that I hadn’t hinted or anything about wanting this shirt either. I adore this shirt and I adore you, Rena. Kisses!
I went through a phase back in 2014 where I was going out to bars and clubs a lot. I didn’t always want to wear cocktail dresses either so I started collecting pleated miniskirts. I didn’t realize it but I was also expanding my work wardrobe at the same time. Every now and then I’d wear this skirt and a couple of others with black tights and either pumps or lace-up ankle boots and a turtleneck or a blazer, statement necklace, and tshirt to work. I love it when a plan comes together.
You may remember these infamous boots from my Winter Finale blog post. How could I NOT wear them with this outfit?? I mean, I could wear other boots with this outfit such as my Charlotte Olympia ankle boots or my leather OTK boots but these are so special. The zippers are the perfect detail to add a little sass to this edgy look. Hate to see her go, but love to watch her leave – especially in these boots. Hair flip!
Finishing Touches
It wouldn’t be me without my signature red lip, right? This week, I’m rocking one of my favorite colors: “Charlotte” by NARS. I love it because it’s not a bright red like “Jeanne” or “Red Lizard” which are other NARS colors that I also wear. I use MAC lip liner in “Currant” to line my lips after I exfoliate my lips and apply lip balm and lip primer. It’s amazing what a difference exfoliating your lips makes before applying lipstick. I highly recommend it! And since I was already “shining bright” in my sequin shirt, why not wear my mirrored sunnies and go all out? It’s my outfit and I’ll look like a disco ball if I want to!
New Monday, new week, new goals…let’s go!
xoxo, CCB
